Part of what makes the performing arts special is the shared experience of a transient moment. The downside is that it can be difficult to maintain a lasting connection with the audience after the curtain goes down.
To prolong the experience, enhance the connection, and build a community I implemented a process where Madison Opera records a quick thank you video with the principal performers in costume and in the theater. The short video is then sent out in an email following the run of the show to attendees.
In addition to the video, the emails occasionally offer a discount promotion for first-time attendees for upcoming performances.
The result is an email with a high click-through rate and a growing community of lasting relationships between the audience, the organization, and the performers.
